Eisenman Diagrams incorporated into my Model of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa

At first I had difficulties relating my Eisenman diagrams to my Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa model. For my Eisenman diagram I started from a natural or stable condition as Eisenman described in his essays, then did a series of transformations but was unable to do the same for this model as it began in a rather unstable condition.

I incorporated a grid to divide the volumes into six segments. The transformations included:

  • Copying segments into others and adding or subtracting the overlapping volumes
  • Varying height by segment
  • Rotating segments
  • Creating planes from existing corridors
  • Subtracting and adding to volumes to create implied elements or residue as Eisenman wrote about
