Giovanna 10/28 – Precedents

1. Street

The hardest one in my opinion. Thought it was cool how the installation could be seen as a street in a way that it guides you to the direction you should be going.

2. Congregation

Open space that even though not closed, is enclosed enough to direct people to the areas that should be used for congregations. Could be used as a place to do any sort of gathering.

3. Isolation

Very boxy and closed creating the privacy needed for isolation. Doesn’t call much attention as it should be a place that doesn’t attract many people. The use of white also created a sense of peace and calm.

4. Sacred

Very open and fluid. In nature creating peace.

5. Profane

Had a bit of a hard time with the definition of profane. Profane should be related to something that is not religious or biblical. I chose Azulik because of how non-traditional it is and how I thought it was different than everything I’ve ever seen.

Actually got really intrigued by Roth-Architeture’s projects and by how much they enclose nature creating the sense of being literally in nature even when inside the architectural structure. Really recommend taking a look, promise you won’t be disappointed 🙂

6. Commerce

I chose this for commerce as I believe that commerce should be calling the public’s attention. The building should intrigue and create curiosity on people so that those will be temped to go in and shop.

Had chosen my reference already but doing the research on Roth-Architecture I thought I would add a second one. The use of nature elements created a sense of feeling welcomed and safe. By doing that, it makes people to feel comfortable inside the store, being more prone to spend money.

7. Learning

For learning I chose a library located in Shanghai. I chose this because I thought the use of curves and these ‘niches’ was really interesting creating an interesting atmosphere for learning and reading.

8. Living

This is actually a hotel, however the main proposal of this hotel is to make guests feel as if they’re home by having them be in a separate ‘house’, apart from the other guests. I chose this because I thought it was cool how combined with the nature the architecture is, and it’s something that I see as really important for architecture: its connection with nature.

9. Exhibition

10. Contemplation

Lastly but in any sense the least important (probably my favorite quite honestly). This precedent is located in Tulum, Mexico, which is known to be one of the most charged points on Earth – energetically.

After all, there’s no better place to get in touch with yourself and your thoughts than nature 🙂
