Streets provide the principal visual scenes in cities – Jane Jacobs

boarded on either side, travel through, clear boundary, linear environment

Simple exterior and complex interior, many openings, unity in repetition

Closed off, feels uneasy, hard to find a path, secretive

Clear boundary between public and private, collage of different uses, limited entry.

Multiple entrances, little ascribe path, though many suggested, over arching open space with individual subsections

Fully open space, easily accessible, no ascribed function or overall boundary

Complex exterior contrast simpler interior, open access from different directions

Physically separated from other things, limited function and single entrance

Repeated module space but individual construction of space, collage of closed in and open areas

Clear threshold between it and normal space, multiple open entrances, but limited vision from either inside or outside
