Updates to Details and Orientation
After last class, we had discussed adding detailing to the model, making the honeycomb-type pattern less dense and more elegant, and changing the orientation of the one side of the design. I added detailing with stepped cut outs in the center of the design. When I went to do more detailing elsewhere, I felt like it was taking more away from the design than it was adding to it so I stopped there. To make the honeycomb pattern less dense and more elegant, I scaled up the pattern and made the hexagons closer together so that the remaining parts of the design after it was cut out were thinner and more delicate/elegant.
When I changed the orientation of the one side of the design, I realized that I lost the inclusion of congregation. In the original design, it was planned around the set up of my congregation precedent, with the negative space in the center reflecting that of Piazza San Marco (shown in the plan view above). I am not loving the second model as much as I do the first, but that could be because I have a hard time with imbalance and things being out of order.
