Repetition – taking an idea, a shape, or characteristic and making it reoccur throughout architectural piece you are doing.

Void – Having completely empty space that isn’t boring, but actually being a captivating part of a specific area.

Dissimilar Collision – The collision of dissimilar trajectories that create interesting spaces as a result of their collisions.

Qualitative Symmetry – Symmetry in terms of the idea of something, not precisely how it is executed or the dimensions.

Shotgun Housing – gained popularity in the African American communities in the south. Typically one room wide and comes with a spacious porch.

Tenement Housing – low rise apartment buildings in New York’s Lower East Side neighborhood. 2/3 of New York’s population lived here.
